It all comes to an end

During our last week in Mostar, we were offered the possibility to take a helicopter ride over our Area of Activity (AoA).

I know, many of you most likely never did fly in a chopper, but during my three year military service, I pretty much got used to it.

So it wasn't really something special for me but it anyways was nice to see the country we worked in for six months, from another point of view...

I apologise that the pictures didn't turn out too well (It was a bit foggy still)

After that, we handed over all our stuff to the new team and left our house to stay the rest of the time in a great hotel in the heart of the old town.

We celebrated and partied for four days before we left the city finally and moved to Sarajevo (capital city) into the HQ (Head Quarters - Military Base).

And the next day we flew back home to Switzerland!

End of Mission for Staff Sergeant P. Beusch.

I am now highly decorated now, with four medals to show for my two employments abroad. In the US, I would now be called a Veteran.

Now the final preparations before my trip begin..!!

Vacation in Croatia and Hungary

Five weeks have passed since my last post, that’s not ideal, but now I have a lot of new stuff to tell my dear readers..

I took my leftover vacation days and went to Croatia and Hungary.

It took me first a quick five hour ride to get from Mostar to Zagreb (the capital city of Croatia for those who don't know). It was a bit boring for me personally but I think that's just because I didn't know where to go. Get recommendations from your friends! The city itself is beautiful, quite and has an amazing old centre.

After my one day stay there, I decided to drive to Budapest, which was the right decision for me personally as it delivered what I was looking for - Party.

My stay at the Retox party hostel was amazing. With only Aussies in my room, it was simply a blast. We were partying each night (try the booze cruise!) and during the day time we did some excursion if we were able to get up before 3 pm. For example we visited the thermal bath which was amazing.

The city overall is pretty cool, lots of old buildings and things to do. Highly recommended!
